The Kansas Jayhawks opened Big XII play with a road win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers last night. Brandon Rush scored a season-high 19 points in the 79-58 win. Kansas is now 16-0 this season.
The Jayhawks started fast by jumping out to a 7-0 lead. The Cornhuskers were forced to burn a timeout. The lead then swelled to 14-5. Then Nebraska was able to make a little run of their own. NU cut the lead to 23-20. KU then went on a 19-10 run to close out the half. The game never got any closer.
Mario Chalmers had 14 points and 6 assists after missing one game due to a groin injury. Sasha Kaun came off the bench to score 10 points. Russell Robinson also scored 10.
KU is 16-0 for the fifth time is school history. KU has won 17 straight conference openers. KU is 162-71 all-time against Nebraska.
Kansas will host Oklahoma on Monday night. The game will air on ESPN at 9pm Eastern.
